«El mundo es ancho y ajeno» («Broad and Alien is the World»), is the title of a novel by Ciro Alegría (1909-1967). Although he isn’t one of my favorite writers, the phrase seems to me one too deep and difficult to embrace. The world, all, is too wide and too strange. It’s a metaphysical assertion or postulate that granted the existence of the world, its dimension and pertinence. It gives truth to the alien, the neighbor o whoever is that someone gesturing in front of me. The phrase had accompanied me at least for the past 25 years of my life and, I think, it will be here for the next 25 at least.

This site has two main functions. The first—maybe the most important for me— is to display a daily log of my ideas and project, as they come to my mind. This zone is mostly intimate and hard to understand for alien’s ears. The second, is public and express the ideas, comments, and projects of all my favorite subjects. For the case, those are: art and photography, computer programming, philosophy, and literature. Those recurrent subjects are thought under the structure of my mind and around patterns and principles.

Respect to the languages in the site, I’m not a purist. I write in Spanish or English according the subject. It’s a fact that when I write about computer programming, my «native language» is English. On the contrary, while I discuss something about Literature, my language is Spanish. In either case, it all depends on the content and the expected audience I think is fondly near the subject.

For the other matters, they will be understandable by reading, thinking and browsing.

(«El mundo es ancho y ajeno», es el título de una novela de Ciro Alegría (1909-1967). Aunque no es uno de mis escritores favoritos, la frase me ha parecido desde siempre una muy profunda y difícil de abarcar. El mundo todo es ancho y bien ajeno. Es todo un postulado metafísico que da por verdadero el mundo, su dimensión y su pertenencia. Da por verdadero lo ajeno, el prójimo o quien quiera que sea ese que gesticula ante mí. La frase me ha acompañado al menos 25 años de mi vida y, creo, lo seguirá haciendo por los próximos 25 al menos.

Este sitio cumple dos funciones. La primera —y tal vez la más importante—, la de servirme como bitácora de las ideas y proyectos que me voy figurando. Esta zona es mayormente íntima y difícil de comprender a oídos ajenos. La segunda función publica y expresa esas ideas, comentarios, y proyectos de los temas que me interesan. Para el caso giran en tres órbitas: el arte y la fotografía, la programación de computadoras, la filosofía y la literatura. Estos temas los medito dentro de la estructura de mis pensamientos y alrededor de patrones y principios.

Respecto a los idiomas tampoco soy purista. Escribo en castellano o inglés según el tema. No falta añadir que al hablar de programación de computadoras mi «lengua nativa» es el inglés. Pero, al hablar de literatura, lo natural sea el castellano. En cualquier caso, todo depende del contenido y la audiencia que creo más cercana al tema.

Lo demás ya se entiende leyendo, pensando y recreándose.
